Start with the decision

Are you choosing the mountain or choosing the company?

Those are different decisions, so they should not share one scoring formula.

Resort reviews judge the skiing and the destination. Company reviews judge the package and booking service. If you already know the resort and need practical planning information, use the travel guides instead.

How the scores differ

Enough methodology to read the page correctly.

The full scoring framework lives on How We Research. Here, the important distinction is simple.

RESORTSEight categories, weighted equally.

A worldwide benchmark for the destination itself.

COMPANIESEight categories with published weights.

A framework for the operator, package and booking service.

BOTHCustomer ratings stay separate.

Reader reviews do not become our editorial score, and affiliate relationships do not change ratings or verdicts.

Trav the Find Cheap Ski Holidays mascot

Trav's take: Use the overall score to shortlist, then read the categories that matter to your trip. A slightly lower-rated resort or company can still be the better choice for you.

Review questions

What belongs on this page — and what does not.

The reviews parent page routes you to the right judgement. Detailed scoring, planning logistics and commercial comparison live deeper in the site.

What is the difference between a resort review and a ski company review?

A resort review judges the destination: snow, terrain, ability levels, lift access, atmosphere and value. A company review judges the operator: total-trip value, trust, booking clarity, choice, travel, ski extras, support and convenience.

Do both review types use the same scoring system?

No. Resort reviews use eight equally weighted categories. Company reviews use eight weighted categories. The complete methodology and company weights are published on How We Research.

Are customer ratings included in the editorial score?

No. Customer reviews and ratings are shown separately and are not averaged into either FCSH editorial score.

Where do I find resort transport, passes and village information?

Use the ski resort travel guides. Those pages are for practical planning; the resort reviews are for judging whether the destination is right for you.

How is first-hand experience used?

Relevant first-hand experience can inform editorial judgement where it genuinely exists. We do not claim it where it did not happen, and current facts are checked separately.
