Start with the final trip cost

Start with the score, then check why each company earned it.

The overall rating is a starting point, not a substitute for the detail. Two companies can finish on a similar score for very different reasons: one may lead on resort choice, another on specialist support or package convenience. The category breakdown shows where those differences come from.

How the scores work

Every company is scored on the same eight weighted categories.

Total-trip value carries the most weight because the complete holiday cost can materially change the booking decision. Trust, clarity and choice come next. The overall score is the weighted result, rounded to one decimal place.

Not a customer average: these are FCSH editorial scores. Reader-submitted ratings stay separate. The order of companies on this page is not a commission ranking or a live price league table.

Beyond the overall score

Four checks before choosing between similarly rated companies.

Use the category scores to find the strongest fit, then price the same trip specification with each operator. That prevents a similar overall rating or lower headline price from hiding important differences in the package.

01 · Package

Match the core inclusions.

Check flights or rail, transfers, accommodation, baggage and board basis. Do not assume the same words mean the same package.

02 · Ski essentials

Add what you will actually use.

Price the lift pass, ski or snowboard hire and lessons you need. A bundle can be better value, but only if it matches your level and ski area.

03 · Support

Check what happens after you arrive.

Compare in-resort help, transfer arrangements, digital support and who you contact if weather or travel disruption affects the trip.

04 · Protection

Check the booking protection.

Look at the ATOL or other financial protection applying to the exact services you book, and keep the certificate or confirmation issued with your holiday.

Ski company FAQs

Useful questions before you choose.

These are the practical questions that make package prices easier to compare.

What should I compare between ski holiday companies?

Compare the final trip price rather than only the headline holiday price. Check travel, transfers, baggage, accommodation board basis, lift passes, equipment hire, lessons, resort support and the financial protection applying to your booking.

How are the company ratings calculated?

We score eight editorial categories. Total-trip value carries 20%; trust, booking clarity and choice carry 15% each; travel, ski extras and support carry 10% each; package convenience carries 5%. The weighted result is rounded to one decimal place.

Are customer ratings included in the FCSH editorial score?

No. Customer reviews and ratings are shown separately and are not averaged into the eight editorial categories or the overall FCSH company rating.

Are lift passes, ski hire and lessons normally included?

Not always. The companies reviewed here use different package structures, and ski essentials are often added separately unless a specific package or bundle explicitly includes them.

Why can two similar ski package prices cost different amounts overall?

The headline prices may include different baggage, transfers, catering, ski essentials or support. Build the same final trip with each company before deciding which represents better value.

Review methodology

How we keep the company ratings comparable.

We use current operator information for factual package details, policies and protection, then apply the same weighted company framework to each operator. Current facts are checked again when an individual review is updated.

01 · Current product

Check what is actually sold.

We review current packages, accommodation, travel, ski extras, support, booking policies and protection rather than relying on a generic description of the brand.

02 · Whole-trip value

Compare more than the headline price.

We distinguish standard inclusions from extras, upgrades and special bundles so the value judgement reflects more of the real ski-trip cost.

03 · Same scoring scale

Use the published eight-category framework.

The weighted categories and score bands are applied consistently so a 9+ means a genuine market-leading strength rather than a generous default score.
